Hammarby Sjöstad Transport

Although there are only about 1200 apartments ready for occupation (and of these, only a few are occupied), the Hammarby Sjöstad tram is already up and running. 

This new development is a rather up-scale part of town, and I am told that the new owners are more excited about living in this trendy new part of town, than they are conscious and dedicated to the environment (and that is just fine, in my point of view).

Knowing that these flats go for 3 million Kroner (about double of what one can afford across the lake), I asked about the parking situation.  The planners, being very thorough in their environmental planning, opted to provide half a spot to each resident for parking.  However, these trendy, wealthy, new owners generally have two cars per household.  For now, it is okay, but as the rest of the buildings are finished, parking will become a problem! (and then maybe this tram will look more attractive!)
