RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS
Millar House
- Portland, Oregon

In 2001, Ms. Millar purchased this 1920s home in Portland's West Slope neighborhood.  Two parts of this home did not work well for her - the kitchen and bathrooms.  She wanted a more functional kitchen, and a master bathroom.

By creating a 'U' shaped workspace in the kitchen, we doubled the amount of counterspace, and tripled the amount of storage in Ms. Millar's kitchen.  We decided to push the back door in order to create a more welcoming entry (she uses this entry every day), with a closet or bench just opposite the door, and with space to hang hats, gloves, and coats.

To solve the bathroom issue, we simply turned them 90 degrees, and this allowed space for a new closet in the master bedroom.
